Sumit Antil was a budding wrestler before he met with an unfortunate accident in 2015, which resulted in the amputation of his left leg below the knee. Despite the setback, he found his passion for javelin throwing during his rehabilitation period.

Para-Athletics Career:

Sumit Antil made his mark in para-athletics by breaking world records and winning prestigious titles. Notably, he set a new world record in the F64 category of javelin throw at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. He won the gold medal with a throw of 68.55 meters, breaking the previous world record.
