Biography of Amit Chaudhuri: Amit Chaudhuri is an Indian novelist, poet, essayist, literary critic, editor, singer, and music composer. He was born on May 15, 1962, in Kolkata, India. He completed his doctoral dissertation on D. H. Lawrence’s poetry at Balliol College, Oxford. He has authored seven novels, including A Strange and Sublime Address, Afternoon Raag, Freedom Song, A New World, The Immortals, Odysseus Abroad, and Friend of My Youth. He has also written non-fiction works such as Clearing a Space: Reflections on India, Literature and Culture, and Calcutta: Two Years in the City. Chaudhuri has received many awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel A New World and the Encore Award for Afternoon Raag1.
