Alibaug - a small and beautiful city Alibaug, located in the Konkan region of Raigad district, is a small town on the west coast of Maharashtra. It is near the famous Metro of Mumbai. Alibaug means the garden of Ali. According to legends, Ali planted many mangoes and coconut trees. This place, built in the 17th century, was promoted by Shivaji Maharaj. In 1852 it was declared 'Taluka'. Alibaug has also been the home of the Beni Israeli Jews. Alibaug History of  Alibaug The fort of Colaba is a witness to the fact that the Maratha Empire ruled this part of India. This fort which is currently in a dormancy can be seen clearly from the banks of Alibag. You can come to see this fort during full tide.
