H. Lawrence’s poetry at Balliol College, Oxford. He has authored seven novels, including A Strange and Sublime Address, Afternoon Raag, Freedom Song, A New World, The Immortals, Odysseus Abroad, and Friend of My Youth. He has also written non-fiction works such as Clearing a Space: Reflections on India, Literature and Culture, and Calcutta: Two Years in the City.

Chaudhuri has received many awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel A New World and the Encore Award for Afternoon Raag1. He was also a professor of contemporary literature at the University of East Anglia from 2006 to 2021.
