In Afghanistan two earthquakes came of 6.3 magnitude on Saturday 7 September 2023. According to report 15 people died while 40 were injured. Spokesman for Afghanistan's disaster management team, said that many houses were damaged by the earthquake. Its center was 40 kilometers northwest of Herat city.

Videos on internet media showed hundreds of people on the streets outside homes and offices in Herat city. Herat province borders Iran. According to local media reports, tremors were also felt in Farah and Badghis provinces.
