Dilip Vengsarkar, full name Dilip Balwant Vengsarkar, is a former Indian cricketer and a prominent figure in Indian cricket history. He was born on April 6, 1956, in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Early Life and Domestic Career:

Dilip Vengsarkar made his first-class debut for Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1975-76. He quickly established himself as a reliable batsman and played a key role in Mumbai's domestic cricket dominance during the 1970s and 1980s. He scored heavily in the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic cricket competition.

International Career  of Dilip Vengsarkar:

Vengsarkar made his Test debut for India against England in 1976. He played 116 Test matches for India, scoring 6,868 runs at an average of 42.13. He was known for his ability to perform well in challenging overseas conditions. His notable performances include centuries against the West Indies, England, and Pakistan.

One-Day Internationals (ODIs):

In ODIs, Vengsarkar represented India in 129 matches, scoring 3,508 runs at an average of 34.73. He was a part of the Indian team that won the 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship in Australia.

Dilip Vengsarkar's Captaincy:

Dilip Vengsarkar also served as the captain of the Indian cricket team. He led India in 10 Test matches between 1985 and 1986. Under his captaincy, India won the historic Test match against Pakistan at Jaipur in 1986.

Post-Retirement and Administrative Roles:

After retiring from international cricket, Vengsarkar took up various roles in cricket administration.
