US President Joe Biden has announced the nomination of Ashish Vazirani, an Indian-American management consultant, to the post of Deputy Assistant Secretary to the Pentagon. Vazirani has been nominated for the post of Deputy Assistant Defense Minister for Personnel and Preparedness in the Department of Defense. He is currently the Principal of A2O Strategies LLC. Here he provides advisory services to commercial and non-profit, high growth and large enterprises on the development, implementation and execution of growth strategies.
The White House said that until recently, Vazirani was the executive director and CEO of the National Military Family Association (NMFA). Here he provided and directed strategic and operational oversight for all aspects of NMFA support and programming to support the families of soldiers. During his tenure, the NMFA regained its four-star charity rating and expanded programming, including a child care fee relief program.
Prior to joining the NMFA, he led development and programming at the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA). According to the White House, Vazirani was also elected as a member of the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine committee for the betterment of military families.
According to the White House, Vazirani spent 22 years as a management consultant, working with major high-tech and pharmaceutical companies for 22 years before working with ASYMCA. The White House said Vazirani served as a submarine officer in the United States Navy from 1986 to 1993.
Vazirani holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University, a master's degree in engineering from Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. His family immigrated to America when he was 3 years old.
