According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, India's first Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) will be held for three days from October 20, 2021.

Main points of India's first Internet Governance Forum (IIGF)

  • The launch of Internet Governance Forum was announced by Anil Kumar Jain, CEO and Coordinating Committee, National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
  • Pre-events will be organized in October with an aim to engage students and youth to participate in the main event.
  • IIGF 2021 will be organized under the theme “Inclusive Internet for Digital India”.

IIGF stands for India Internet Governance Forum, it is an Internet Governance Policy Discussion Forum. IIGF is the Indian version of the Internet Governance Forum under the United Nations. It is organized keeping in mind the aspirations of Indians in international policy making and stakeholder discussions. It also tries to ensure the growth of broadband.

India's first Internet Governance Forum (IIGF)


IGF stands for Internet Governance Forum. It is a United Nations forum involving multi-stakeholder policy dialogue on issues related to Internet governance. The establishment of the IGF was announced by the United Nations Secretary-General in July 2006. The first meeting after that was held in Athens, Greece in October-November 2006.
