What is a flex-fuel vehicle?

A flex-fuel vehicle or dual-fuel vehicle is an alternative fuel vehicle with an internal combustion engine designed to run on more than one fuel. They typically run on gasoline mixed with ethanol or methanol fuel. Both the fuels are stored in the same common tank. Modern flex-fuel engines can burn any proportion of the mixture in the combustion chamber because fuel injection and spark timing are automatically adjusted according to the actual mixture.
