Shivaji's successor
Shivaji, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was the founder of the Maratha Empire in western India during the 17th century. After his death, his son, Sambhaji, succeeded him as the ruler of the Maratha Empire.
Sambhaji:
Birth: Sambhaji, the eldest son of Shivaji and his first wife, Saibai, was born in 1657.
Reign: Sambhaji became the second Chhatrapati (emperor) of the Maratha Empire after the death of his father Shivaji in 1680.
Challenges: Sambhaji faced several challenges during his reign, including conflicts with the Mughal Empire under Aurangzeb, who aimed to annex the Maratha territories.
Capture and Execution: Unfortunately, Sambhaji's reign was short-lived. In 1689, he was captured by the Mughals and subjected to severe torture and execution.
