Early Life of Nirmala Sundari:


Anandamayi was born as Nirmala Sundari Devi on 30 April 1896 in the present day village of Tilora in Baglandesh, now in the village of Brahmaberia district. Her parents were a conservative Baishnav Brahmin Bipin Bihari Bhatratacharya and Mokshada Sundari Devi. Her father, who was originally a resident of Vighakut in Tripura. Was a Vaishnavite singer, though the family lived in poverty. Nirmala studied in the village schools of Sultanpur and Khiro for about 2 to 4 months. Though her teacher was happy with her ability, her mother continued to be indifferent and unhappy due to the mental development of her daughter. When her mother once became seriously ill, Riste Daro also commented rudely about the child, saying that she was clearly unaffected.

In 1908, at the age of twelve, 10 months, keeping in mind the rural customs at that time. He was married to Ramani Mohan Chakraborty of Vikrampur, now Munshiganj district, who was later named Bholanath. After five years of marriage at her brother-in-law's house, she had been attending homework for a long time in a state of meditation. When Nirmala was about seventeen years old, she moved to live with her husband, who was working in the city of Ashtagram. In 1918, she moved to Bajitpur where she remained until 1924. On the full moon night of August 1922, at midnight, twenty-six-year-old Nirmala received her spiritual initiation. Nirmala is called Anandamayi Maw, which means, Khushi is allowed to be mother, or Anand is allowed to be mother. He was mainly responsible for the first ashram built for Anandamayi Ma in Ramna in 1929 within the premises of Ramna Kali Temple.

Death of Nirmala Sundari:

Ma died in Dehradun on 27 August 1982 and later on 29 August 1982, a Samadhi Mandir was constructed in the courtyard of her Kankhal Ashram in Haridwar, North India.
