Early life of Gayatri Chakraborty Spike:
Gayatri Chakravarti Spike was born on 24 February 1942 with Paras Chandra and Seoni Chakraborty of Calcutta. Spike's great-grandfather Pratapchandra Majumdar was a doctor of Sri Ramakrishna. After completing her secondary education at St. John's Diocesan Girls Higher Secondary School, she attended Presidency College, Kolkata under the University of Calcutta. From where he graduated in 1959.

Gayatri C Spike is an Indian scholarly literary theorist and feminist critic. She is a professor at the University of Columbia University and a founding member of the Institution of Institution for Comparative Literature and Society. Considered one of the most influential postcolonial intellectuals.

The following year, she became the director of the program in comparative literature and was promoted to the position of full professor.
In 1978 she was the National Humanities Professor at the University of Chicago. In 1986, she became the first English professor of English at the Pittsburgh University. In 1991 she was a member of the Humanities as Avalon Foundation Professor in Columbia University. Where in 2007 he was made Professor of Humanities at the University.

2) In 1997, She received the award for Anuwad in English from the Sahitya Akademi National Literature Academy in India.
