        G. K. Surya Prakash was born in 1953 in Bangalore. He was the sixth child of his father the late GN Kushnamurthy. His father was a professor of the famous Economics of Bangalore. He studied at Government Primary School and Gandhinagar Higher Secondary School in Vasantnagar.

        He completed his BSc Hons in 1972 from Bangalore University. He got his MSc degree from IT Madras in 1974. And PhD was completed in 1978 under the direction of George Ollah from the University of Southern California.

        G. K. Surya Prakash is a professor in Hydracarbon Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Southern California. He serves as the director of the Locker Hydrocarbon Research Institute. Where he maintains his primary research laboratory. He is also currently working as the director of chemistry. He has worked on the characteristic of stable carbocation in superseeds. He also serves on several editorial boards of prominent scientific journals.

        Dr. Prakash is a skilled researcher. Which has more than 800 peer-reviewed publications. Which have been exposed more than 40 | 000 times. And is a co-author of several edited books and monographs. He co-developed Direct Methanol Fuel Cell DMFC with NASA-JPL partners. This deficiency is sometimes referred to as Rupert's light reagent.
