Early Life :

E.S. Raja Gopal was born on 12 May 1936 in Salem, Tamil Nadu. Gopal did his pre-schooling at St. Joseph's College Tiruchirapalli. And studied in Madras University in his former school. And after getting B.Sc Hons from Madras University, she continued her studies.

He completed his MA in Physics in the University of 1956 and a second Master's degree in 1958 by Research MSc. After this, he went to neighboring Rajaya of Karnataka to study his doctorate at the Indian Institute of Science. In 1961, the distinguished physicist was RS Krishnan.

A PhD was obtained under guidance. He then did a posta doctoral study at the Chlordan Laboratory of the Department of Physics, University of Oxford, under Kurt Méné l'Sohan. Rajagopan who was a resident of Malleshwar, Bangalore. He died on 15 November 2018.

E.S. Raja Gopal is an Indian dense physicist former professor at the Indian Institute of Science. And was a former director of the National Physical Laboratory of India. He held a number of posts at the IY where he was an assistant professor in 1965. He became a full professor in 1969 and dean of the Faculty of Science in 1976, during 1977–80 he chaired the Department of Physics and the Regional Advanced Instrument Center.

In 1991, Raja Gopal was appointed as the director of the National Physical Laboratory of India, NPL. But he continued his association with ISC from 1991 to 1994 as MSIL Adhyaksha. He continued to lead the NPL till his retirement.

In 1997, after his official service, he has been in Prayagala as CSIR Emeritus Scientist. Became an Emeritus Professor of the Physics Department, a position he holds to this day.

At IISc, he held the post of Senior Scientist of the Indian National Science Academy from 2001 to 2006 and has been an Honorary Scientist of INS A since then. Raja Gopal, the editor-in-chief of the journal of the Institute of the Institute of India, Raja Gopal, the editor-in-chief of two science journals, has served as the editor-in-chief of two science journals.

He worked as a major investigator in the design and development of high pressure high temperature systems and applications. The magazine is a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Indian Journal of Cryogenics. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Academy Opu Materialsia APMA.

 In January 2008, Astrophysics joined him as a member of an advisory board. The International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies met with the 9th International Conference on Metrology in 2016 and the International Teacher Anna University's University since 2016.

Awards and Honors to E. S. Raja Gopal:

1) The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research was awarded the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Award in 1978 by King Gopal.
2) Awarded ASI Sir CV Raman Award in 1980.
3) Honored with NRDC Innovation Incentive Award in 1984.
4) In 1994, ASI awarded Dr. S. Bhagwantam Award.
5) 1993 NASA Homi Jahangir Bhabha Medal awarded.
6) 2004 BRSI Life Time Achievement Award
7) In 2005, awarded the ISOO Annual Awards.
8) Awarded IISC Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008.
