Early Biography of Dorairajan Balasubramaniam:

        Dorairajan Balasubramaniam was born on 28 August 1939 in South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He did his BSc in Chemistry from the Madras University in 1955 and obtained his Master's degree M.Sc with first class in Chemistry from Rajasthan University Pilani in 1959.

        In 1960, he moved to Joint Raiza USA to do research for his doctoral studies. And received a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from the Columbia University in 1965.

        He continued as a Jain Coffin Children's Fund Fellow at the University of Minnesota Medical School until 1966 at the Convenor Rajaya USA for his post doctoral research. Balasubramaniam is married to Shakti. Who is associated with ETV as a producer. And they have two daughters. Bau Beti Katyayani is a research analyst. And Chhoti Akhila works as a public health professional.

Works of Dorairajan Balasubramaniam :

        Ksheirarajan Balasubramaniam popularly known as Professor Baloo. He is an Indian biochemical chemist and ocular biochemistry. Balasubramaniam returned to India in 1966 and joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur as a lecturer.

        Where he rose from the ranks to become Assistant Professor and Professor. He was appointed as Professor and Dean of the School of Chemistry at Hyderabad University. He then held the position of Deputy Director of the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology.

        He went to Prasad Eye Institute in 1979. Where he is director of research at the Pro Brain Holden Eye Research Center. He is also working as Assistant Professor of New South Wales of Technology and Science Pilani India. He is the pre-director of the Indian Science Academy 2000-2010.

1) Dorairajan Balasubramanian is an Honorary Professor of Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research.
2) Honored with LM Yeddapali Memorial Award.
3) Indian Chemical Society Medal in 1977.
4) He was awarded Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Prize in Chemical Science by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in 1981.
5) He was awarded the Ranbaxy Award in 1990.
6) Awarded Dr. Mahendra Lal Sircar Award in 1994 Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science.
7) Omprakash Bhasin Puraskar and Kalinga Puraskar awarded in 1997.
8) He received the Goyal Award and the JC Bose Medal of the Indian National Science Academy.
9) The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri award in 2002.
10) He is also the recipient of NASA Indira Gandhi Award and Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Award for achievement in Science of Indian Science Congress Association ISCA.
