Early life of Tracy Letts:

        Letts was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to writer Billy Letts (nee Gipson) and college professor and actor Dennis Letts. He has two brothers, Sean, a musician, and Dana. Let's be raised in Durant, Oklahoma and graduated from Durant High School in the early 1980s. He moved to Dallas, where he waited tables and worked in telemarketing while starting as an actor. That Jerry Flemons' O Dammit! , Which was part of a new playwright series' sponsored by Southern Methodist University.

        Letts moved to Chicago at the age of 20, and worked in the Steppenwolf Theater Company and Famous Doors for the next 11 years. He is still an active member of Steppenwolf. He was a founding member of Bang Bang Sahaj Theater, whose members included Greg Kotis (Tony Award winner for Urinetown), Michael Shannon (Academy Award-nominee for Revolutionary Road), Paul Dillon, and Amy Pietz. In 1991, Let's wrote the drama Killer Joe. Two years later, the show premiered at the Next Lab Theater in Evanston, Illinois, followed by the 29th Street Ripe in NYC. Since then, Killer which has been performed in at least 15 countries in 12 languages.

        In 1991 Lets wrote the drama Killer Joe about a Texas family hired to kill a relative with a large life insurance policy for the titular killer. The script was so graphic and violent, however, that no theater company would agree to produce it. Two years later Letts and a few other actors dramatized themselves.

The mixed reviews did not stop it from being a hit. Subsequent successful staging at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe resulted in well-performed performances in New York City and London. Next came Bug, a love story about a woman who is a cocaine addict and a man who thinks his body is suffering from insects.

         It premiered in London in 1996 and later ran in New York. Meanwhile, the Lets continued to act. He moved to Los Angeles for a while, finding bits of work on television shows such as Seinfeld and Judging Amy. He appeared on stage in several productions of the Steppenwolf Theater Company of Chicago before being invited to assemble in 2002.

        Let's initially move to Dallas, where he waited tables and worked in telemarketing while starting as an actor. Subsequently, he was Jerry Flemons' 'Dammit!' Appeared in Later, he moved to Chicago at the age of 20 and spent the next 11 years working at the Steppenwolf Theater Company and Famous Doors.

In the year 2001, he performed in the drama 'Glengarry Glen Ross' and made guest appearances in the TV programs 'Strong Medicine' and 'The District'.

        A year later, he starred in the dramas 'The Dazzle' and 'Miracle on 34th Street'. Let's write the game 'Man from Nebraska', which premiered in 2003 in Chicago. In 2004 and 2005, he performed the plays 'The Dresser', 'Last of the Boys', 'Orson's Shadow' and 'The Pain and the Itch'.
