Her father, Jayaram, was a lawyer and her mother, Sandhya, a housewife. Jayalalithaa showed an early interest in acting and dance, and her mother enrolled her in classical dance and music lessons.

Film Career:

Jayalalithaa made her acting debut in the Tamil film industry in 1961 with the movie "Vennira Aadai." She quickly rose to fame with her versatile acting skills and captivating screen presence. She acted in numerous Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films during the 1960s and 1970s, earning accolades and a massive fan following.

Jayalalithaa's Entry into Politics:

In the 1980s, Jayalalithaa transitioned from acting to politics. She joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party, founded by M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), a popular actor and politician. After MGR's death in 1987, Jayalalithaa assumed the leadership of the AIADMK. Under her leadership, the party gained significant political prominence in Tamil Nadu.

Political Career:

Jayalalithaa served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for six terms: 1991-1996, 2001-2006, 2011-2014, and 2015-2016.
