He later completed his Master's degree in economics from Punjab University.

Academic and Professional Career:

Nanda began his career as a lecturer in economics at the National College in Bombay (now Mumbai).
He went on to work at the Labour Bureau in Punjab and then joined the Indian Railways as a research scholar.

Entry into Politics:

Gulzarilal Nanda became involved in the Indian independence movement and joined the Indian National Congress.
