Amar Bose was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to a Bengali Hindu father and an American mother. His father, Noni Gopal Bose, was an Indian freedom revolutionary who fled to the United States in the 1920s. Education:

Amar Bose pursued his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He completed his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1951, his master's degree in 1952, and his doctorate in electrical engineering in 1956. It was during his time at MIT that Bose developed a passion for acoustics and sound technology.
