Alauddin rose through the ranks in the court of his uncle and father-in-law, Jalaluddin Khilji, the founder of the Khilji dynasty. In 1296, Alauddin successfully orchestrated a coup against Jalaluddin, becoming the Sultan of Delhi.

Alauddin Khilji's Military Campaigns and Expansion:

He launched successful military expeditions to expand his empire, most notably against the Rajput states of Rajasthan.
