Biography of Bhai Balmukund:
Bhai Balmukund was an Indian revolutionary freedom fighter who was born in 1889 at Kariala village in Jhelum district (now in Pakistan). He was a cousin of another revolutionary Bhai Parmanand, who was a founder member of Ghadar Party. Balmukund’s interest in national movement aroused when he was a student. After graduation, he took the profession of teaching, but his attachments to the national movement made him an ardent nationalist.
Bhai Balmukund was involved in revolutionary activities and was sentenced to death and hanged by the British Raj for his role in Delhi conspiracy case. He was arrested from Jodhpur, where he was working as a tutor of the Jodhpur Maharaja’s sons. A trial was held at Delhi after the investigations of the bombings and Bal Mukund was sentenced to death along with his companions Master Amir Chand, Awadh Behari, and Basanta Kumar Biswas on December 8, 1914. On May 11, 1915, Bal Mukund was hanged in the Ambala Central Jail at 32 years of age.
Revolutionary activities of Bhai Balmukund:
On December 23, 1912, when God Hardingi was walking through a Chandni Chowk in Delhi in a state, a bomb was thrown at him. Viceroy only suffered minor injuries, but his attendant was killed. Another bomb was thrown in Lahore a few months later on May 17, 1913, a few months later. After the investigation, Balmukund was arrested from Jodhpur, where he was working as the teacher of sons of Jodhpur Maharaj.
Death of Bhai Balmukund:
A probe was conducted in Delhi after the bomb blasts and on October 5, 1914 Balmukund was sentenced to death along with his partner Master Amir Chand, Awadh Bihari and Basant Kumar Biswas. He was hanged in Ambala central prison on May 8, 1915. At the age of 32.
