2018 Chem Nobel Prize: Frances Arnold, George Smith and Gregory Winter
The 2018 Nobel Prize for Chemistry is being given to three chemists Frances H Arnold, George P Smith and British researcher Gregory P Winter. The winners include a woman and two male scientist. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said that the three celebrities who have been selected for the Nobel Prize in the field of chemicals this year have used the power of gradual development to develop enzymes and antibodies. This has created new pharmaceutical and bio-fuels.
Francis H. Ornald of the California Institute of Technology has been given half of the prize for the first guided development of enzymes. With this effort, more environment friendly chemicals have been created which include drugs and renewable fuel.

At the same time, George Smith of Missouri and Sir Gregory P. Winters of Cambridge-based MRC Laboratory and Molecular Biology have been given the rest of the prize. Smith has invented new ways to develop proteins, while Winters used the theory of the development of antibodies, keeping in mind the production of new drugs.
The selection board said that three scientists were selected for the prestigious Nobel Prize in chemistry field in order to develop enzymes used for making everything, from biofuels to medicine, using the principles of evolution. Arnold is the fifth woman to win Nobel Prize 2018 in Chemistry. He won half of the award money of 90 million Swedish kronor (about $ 1.1 million or 870,000 euros). The remaining half will be split between Smith and Winter.
