On August 9, 1925, members of the HRA carried out the Kakori Conspiracy, a train robbery aimed at acquiring funds to support their revolutionary activities.

During the Kakori Conspiracy, a group of revolutionaries stopped a train at Kakori near Lucknow and looted the government treasury. Rajendra Lahiri was one of the key participants in this incident. The British authorities launched a massive manhunt to capture the culprits involved in the Kakori case.
