What is intranet?

Intranet computers have a private network that is based on the standard Internet Protocol. It is used by the concerned institution to secure information exchange between its employees.

Intranet is made for large-scale companies, institutions, internal communication by the organization. Therefore, the use of this network is limited and only people associated with the concerned institution can use it.

Intranet is a Software Based Network. Which is separated from the Global Network by FireWall. And password technology is used to access it. Employees can also use Intranet by VPN (Virtual Private Network).

Communication between the people of the organization becomes established through the intranet. And they exchange their talk, files, folders, other documents etc. easily with each other. And the companies use their personal network to access their policies, laws, new announcements, programs etc. to employees.

Features of intranet

  • Intranet is a network of computers available in any particular institute.
  • The number of computers is limited and very few.
  • For this network, most of the LANs are called Local Area Networks.
  • It has access to limited persons.
  • This is a secure network.
  • Intranet is a Software Based Network. Which are kept separate by firewalls.

Use of intranet

  • Intranets are used for internal communication in a particular organization.
  • The employees use each other to share documents with each other.
  • Some private networks also offer messenger access. Through which the employee can chat
  • To make Internal Communication professional and secure, the company also uses it to establish its own mail server.
  • Institutions also use intranets to convey their point to all their employees.
