What is CPU?

CPU is an important part of the computer. Without which the computer can not do its work. In this Lesson we will give you complete information about the CPU. You will know what a CPU is? How does the CPU work? What are the components of a CPU?

The CPU's full name is Central Processing Unit. Also called Processor, Microprocessor and only CPU. It is also called the brain of the computer. Because the CPU handles instructions from all the hardware and software connected to the computer. And receive the instructions and data obtained from Input Devices, process it and give results.

Generally, due to the absence of new users or information, people start to understand the CPU as a computer. But these are wrong CPUs are a small but very unique part of the computer. Those who are engaged in the Motherboard.

The CPU completes its task with the help of three supporting devices. Whose names are given below.
  1. Memory
  2. Control Unit
  3. ALU

1. Memory of CPU

Memory can also be understood as a computer's warehouse or a planet of storage. Because the data is stored in it. The CPU stores the received instructions and data first in its memory and then stores it again in Memory only after processing it. Which the user can ever use.

Computer works for different memory for this task. The memory which contains Unprocessed Data (Input) is called Primary Memory. And the process which is sent to Process Data (Output) is called Secondary Memory (ROM).

2. Control Unit of CPU

Control Unit, which CU speaks, is a computer manager. Which controls all operations. Control Unit Memory tells Logical Unit, Input & Output Devices how to follow the instruction obtained from a program.

Control unit receives instructions from Memory and decodes it and sends it to Central Processor. Then that particular event is processed. And these procedures keep moving.

3. ALU of CPU

The full name of ALU is Arithmetic Logical Unit. This unit only has two functions. Perform mathematical operations on first data. And second, give results. ALU is the most complex and most important part of a CPU unit.

ALU uses addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc. in mathematical operations. To make decisions, match data, compare, sorting etc. work. Then reaches a decision. Which are called Output. After completion of one task, this process is repeated to do another work again.

What have you learned?

In this Lesson we have provided you with complete information about Computer CPU. You know what processes the CPU performs to do their job. And what aids are the helpers. We hope this lesson will prove useful to you.
