He comes from a political family; his father, Dorjee Khandu, also served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh until his unfortunate demise in a helicopter crash in 2011.

Pema Khandu's Political Career:

Pema Khandu entered politics following the death of his father and successfully contested the by-election to the Mukto (Tawang) Assembly constituency in 2011.

Pema Khandu became the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in July 2016 after a political crisis in the state led to a change in leadership.
