Murud Janjira Fort

Janjira Fort is one of the most influential structures located in the state of Maharashtra. Murud can go to this fort from a small town, the best thing about Murud Janjira Fort is that it is surrounded by water from all sides and hence it is also known as the island fort.

Janjira fort was built by Malik Ambar at the end of the 17th century, which was a minister in the court of Sultan of Ahmednagar. This fort reflects the wonders of ancient engineering. The fort stands with an impressive height of 40 feet and is surrounded by high walls from all sides.

Inside the Janjira Fort, you can see water tanks, beautiful tombs and stone sculptures. At the gate, the sculpture of the tiger elephants is very impressive, it reflects the valor of Siddi.
