The Madan Mahal fort is popular tourist attraction in Jabalpur city of Madhya Pradesh, which is known as Durgavati Fort. The fort of Madan Mahal is built on a granite stone, which is at a height of about 515 meters on the hill of the same name.

Madan Mahal Fort

The Madan Mahal fort has been built under the reign of 37th Gond ruler Madan Singh in the 11th century.
Though the Madan Mahal Fort is called the fort, but originally it was a military post used as a watch tower and a military barrack.

Queen Gond Rani is associated with Rani Durgavati and her son Madan Singh. Who was the tenth Gond ruler. Rani Durgavati was finally a martyr fighting a Mughal.

The rulers of Jabalpur ruled Jabalpur, Mandla and surrounding areas. Madan Mahal is one such fort built by him. Though not a miracle of architecture, the small fort is seen as ancient monuments in India.

The fort covered the rulers, the stables, the battlefield, the ancient scripts, the secret roads, the corridors and the main jyotishtha of a small reservoir, which can be seen inside all the forts. The rooms of the Madan Mahal Fort were strategically designed, in front of the main structure, which were probably recording the RNA soldiers.

How to reach Madan Mahal Fort

Road Trip: The fort of Madan Mahal is located in Jabalpur city area, so all the buses reaching Jabalpur city are suitable for going to the fort complex.

Railway Travel: The nearest railway station is Madan Mahal Railway Station, which is just 2.5 km away from the fort, to reach Madan Mahal Fort.

Air Travel: The nearest airport to Madan Mahal Fort is in Jabalpur, which is 22 km away from the fort complex.
