Early life of Satish Kumar:

Satish Kumar was born in Rajasthan, India, in Dunggadh. At the age of 9, he left his family and became a Jain monk After reading Mahatma Gandhi's book at the age of 18, he escaped from an urgent order to become a student of Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave and his non-violence and land reform ideas. Inspired by Bertrand Russell's civil disobedience against the atomic bomb in 1962, Kumar and his friend, EP Menon, decided to devote themselves to peace with India in the four capitals of the nuclear world: Moscow, Paris, London and Washington DC Decided not to take any money on their journey. They called it 'Pilgrimage for Peace'.

Vinoba Bhave gave two 'gifts' to young men. Wherever they went, there was to be a waste. The second was to be vegetarian. He traveled through Pakistan for the first time, where he met with a great historical struggle from a country and great kindness with adversity towards India. They continue through Afghanistan, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Caucasus Mountains, and Khyber Pass. He toured Moscow, Paris, London and Washington, DC .. With no money and money, Kumar and his colleagues will be with anyone who provides them food or shelter.

Inspired by the example of British peace activist Bertrand Russell in the 20th century, Satish started the 8,000-mile peace-loving pilgrimage. Not taking any money and on the basis of kindness and hospitality of strangers, he moved from India to India through Moscow, London and Paris to give the humble packet of 'Peace Tea' to the then current leaders of the world's nuclear powers.

In 1973, Satish took over the post of editor of the Resurrection magazine in the United Kingdom, which he had since then, which made him the longest serving editor of Britain's magazine. During this time, he has now been the guiding spirit behind internationally respected ecological and educational enterprises including Shumakar College in South Devon, where he is still a visiting fellow.

His autobiography, No Destination, published by Green Books in 1978 has sold over 50,000 copies. He is you, therefore I am: the declaration of dependence and also the author of Buddha and Terrorist. In 2005, Satish was a guest of Lawa Lolli on Radio 4's desert island disk. In 2008, as part of the BBC World's Natural World Series, he presented a 50-minute documentary from Dartmoor, Earth Pilgrim, which was seen by more than 3.6 million people. He also regularly appears in the media on many programs including Thought for the Day and Midwayk.
