K. V. Kamath holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Surathkal. He later obtained a post-graduate degree in management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).

K. V. Kamath's Career in Banking:

K. V. Kamath began his career at ICICI (Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India) in 1971. Over the years, he held various positions within the organization, including Deputy Managing Director, Managing Director, and CEO. Under his leadership, ICICI transformed into a diversified financial services group with a global presence.

Leadership Roles:

Kamath served as the Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank from 1996 to 2009. During his tenure, ICICI Bank became one of the largest private sector banks in India. Later, he served as the Non-Executive Chairman of ICICI Bank from 2009 to 2015.

He was also associated with several international organizations, including the New Development Bank (BRICS Bank), where he served as the President from 2015 to 2020.
