He belonged to the illustrious Mukherjee-Samarth family. His father, Sashadhar Mukherjee, was a film producer, and his mother, Sati Devi, was a singer.

Film Debut:

Joy Mukherjee made his acting debut in the film "Love in Simla" (1960), directed by R.K. Nayyar.
The film was a success and marked the beginning of his career as a leading actor in the Hindi film industry.
