Early life Of Govind Sankara Kurup:

Govind Shankara Kurup was born in the simple environment of Nitolotta Shankar Warrior's house. His mother's name was Laxmikutty Amma. Because of his father's death in childhood, he was raised by Mama. His Mama was astrologer and a scholar, due to which he was interested in studying Sanskrit and got a strong rite of Sanskrit poetry tradition. For further studies, he studied in the middle school of Perumpavur. After the seventh grade he came to Moovattutupu Malayalam high school. Here are two teachers Mr. R.C. Sharma and Mr. S.N. Nair had a profound influence on him.

        He passed the Pundit examination of the state of Cochin, studied Bangla and Malayalam literature. His first poem was published in a monthly magazine 'Self-Prophani' and soon his first collection of poem 'Sahitya Kautumakam' was published. At this time he became a teacher at Tiruvilvamala High School. From 1921 to 1925, Shri Shankar Kurup remained Tiruvilvamala. In 1925, he came to Chalakuti High School. This year the second part of Sahitya Kautukam was published. His talent and fame started spreading around. In 1931, he was recognized in the public with the poem titled Nallah (next day). From 1937 to 1956, he continued working as a professor in Maharaja College, Ernakulam.

        He was conferred Padma Bhushan in 1967 by Maharaja Shankar Kurupu, who won the Sanskrita Award for the Gyanpeeth Award and Soviet State Sahitya Akademi. There are nominated members in the Rajya Sabha. Over fifty thousand works have been published. He wrote the songs of Malayalam film 'Nirmala'.         As soon as he passed the Vernacular Higher Examination, he started his official career. Ji was only 16 when he joined as the Chief Master of Kottamthu Convent School and in later years he served in many schools. In 1921 he worked as a Malayalam pundit at Thiruvilumala High School. In 1927, he served as a teacher at Thrissur Training School, and in 1931 he served as a lecturer at Ernakulam Maharaja College and later retired as professor in 1956.

        Govindji's first mythology 'Sahitya Kuthukam' was published in 1923, in which his poems were included from 1917 to 1922. The second part of this collection was published in 1925, the third in 1927, while the fourth was published in 1930. One of his works is widely known as a famous work with a proposal by Kenikkara Kumara Pillai, a famous playwright named Suryakanthi, published in 1946.
