He has published three novels, in particular his 2003 film, The Kite Runner, which are all partially set in Afghanistan and present an Afghan as the protagonist. After the success of The Kite Runner, he retired from medicine to write full-time.

Hosni was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. His father worked as a diplomat, and when Hosseini was 11 years old, the family went to France; Four years later, he applied for asylum in the United States, where he later became a citizen.

Hosseini did not return to Afghanistan by the age of 36 in 2001, where he "felt like a tourist in [his] country." In the interview about the experience, they agreed to feel the survivor's crime to be able to leave the country before and after the American invasion.

In March 2001, while practicing medicine, Hosni began writing his first novel The Kite Runner, which was published in 2003 by Riverhead Books. It was the first film to be one of the greatest literary career of our time. Today, Khalid Hosseini is one of the most recognized and best selling writers in the world. His books, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Son, and the Mountains Echoced, have been published in more than seventy countries and have sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

Hosni began working on The Kite Runner in 2001, who wrote at 4:00 before going for his medical practice. Novel's storytakers are Aamir, who currently live in California, but grew up in Kabul in 1970, who is the privileged son of a rich family. The story of Amir focuses on the friendship of his childhood with the son Hassan of a family servant and subsequent disintegration.

Kite runner was praised for telling a powerful story, but it was often rejected by critics for elements considered melodramatic. Nonetheless, the novel received widespread popularity through readers' appreciation soon, and eventually it was published in more than three dozen countries; A film adaptation was released in 2007.

Inspired by this success, Hosni began writing full-time in 2004. The novel was brought to the continual Afghan refugee crisis, which made the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees their appointment in 2006 as a Goodwill Envoy.

Hosni began publishing his second novel, A Thousand Splendid Sun in May 2007. Unlike The Kate Runner, which is the center around the relationship between men, A Thousands focuses on them among superb females. In the months following its release, the novel has highlighted the excess of positive reviews.

Hosniani's dedication to Afghanistan can be seen not only in his writings, but also in his activism. He is a Goodwill Ambassador in the United Nations Refugee Agency, UNHCR since 2006, and his personal website contains links to several aid organizations that are helping Afghanistan. Interviewers described Hoseini as a clever, handsome man with a quiet breeze, and Time Magazine called him "Definitely the Most Famous Afghan" in the world. Khalid Hossein lives in North California with his wife and two children.
