Use of 'this' or 'that'-

Use of 'this'-

When an object, noun, place or animal is nearby, it is used for this.

Example of using this in English:

1. This is a cat.
2. This is a house.
3.  This is a man.

In the above sentence all things are nearby so it is used of 'this'.

Use of 'that'-

When an object, noun, place or creature is located far away, that is used for it.

Example of using this in English:

1.  That is a boy.
2.  That is a cow.
3.  That is a temple.

In the above sentence all things are located far away so it is used of 'that'.
