Ratha Saptami 2020: The festival of worship of Lord Surya is Ratha Saptami today. It is also called Maghi Saptami or Achala Saptami because it is on the seventh day of the bright fortnight of Magh month. On this day, the sun god appeared on the chariot of seven horses, so today the date is also celebrated as the birthday of the sun god. On this day, offering arghya to the sun god and worshiping with the help of law, along with wealth, also gives the son Ratna.

Rath Saptami Puja


There is a tradition of donating a lamp to the sun god after bathing in the river on the day of Rath Saptami. By doing this, you get desired results. In Deep Daan, a lamp has to be lit and decorated in a bowl of flowers with flowers etc. and flow in water. If you cannot bathe in the river, then put Ganga water in the water and take bath at home.

Then worship Lord Sun with camphor, incense, red flowers etc. Offer them with water. Keep fruits, rice, sesame, durva, sandalwood etc. in Arghya. While offering the arghya, chant Om Mantra Surya Nam: or Om Surya Nam: Mantra.

After the worship of Sun God on Rath Saptami, perform fruits throughout the day. Worshiping the Sun God on this day gives fruit of the year. Good luck also increases with child happiness.

Donate clothes to your Guru on this day. Do use the mill in charity. There is also a law to donate cow on this day.

According to the legend, a woman did not make any charity in her lifetime. When she realized this in the last phase of her life, she reached Vashistha Muni. He told this to them. So they told him the glory of Achala Saptami i.e. Rath Saptami fast. He told him that by performing Achala Saptami fast, donating a lamp to the Sun will give a pity. He observed the fast of Achala Saptami and worshiped the Sun God according to the laws of the Sun. After death due to the effect of that fast, he got a place in heaven.
