Alibaug - a small and beautiful city

Alibaug, located in the Konkan region of Raigad district, is a small town on the west coast of Maharashtra. It is near the famous Metro of Mumbai. Alibaug means the garden of Ali. According to legends, Ali planted many mangoes and coconut trees. This place, built in the 17th century, was promoted by Shivaji Maharaj. In 1852 it was declared 'Taluka'. Alibaug has also been the home of the Beni Israeli Jews.

History of  Alibaug

The fort of Colaba is a witness to the fact that the Maratha Empire ruled this part of India. This fort which is currently in a dormancy can be seen clearly from the banks of Alibag. You can come to see this fort during full tide. There is another fort, Khanderi Fort which is almost 3 century old. This fort built in the Peshwa dynasty was handed over to the British during the British rule.

The Kanakeshwar Temple and Someshwar Temple are two such iconic temples that give reverence to the pilgrims who come here. Both these magnificent temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva. This small town is today a commercial center while the locals here live in farms and huts. 'Goa of Maharashtra' Alibaug has many beautiful beaches due to being surrounded by water on three sides. With all the beaches having coconut and betel nut trees, the whole area looks like a tropical beach. The weather here is very pleasant and the beaches seem completely untouched.

The air here is pollution free and fresh and the view of the beaches looks like a paradise. While the black sand on the Alibag coast surprises you, the white sand is scattered on the Kihim coast and the Nagao coast. You must also see the Akshi coast. Many commercials, plays and films have been shot on these banks of Alibaug. If you are lucky, you can also meet any Bollywood star whose farmhouse or bungalow is in Alibag. Since Alibaug is a coastal city, the local cuisine here is made from fish. Apart from pomfort and melodious dishes, Sol Kadhi is also a favorite dish here. The Alibaug coastline is a great place to spend a fun weekend where you can stroll along the coast with friends and family, play in the water, or watch the sun set in the evening from a distance .

When and how to reach Alibaug?

The weather of Alibaug is pleasant where the temperature is neither too high nor too low. Like other regions of India, there is not much heat here. The maximum temperature is 36 ° C. Despite experiencing a pleasant monsoon, there may be some difficulty in walking here. Despite the heavy rain, you should go there on your responsibility, lest you remain stuck in the hotel room during the entire journey. Winters are the best time to come here because the cold and pleasant weather of this time will make your trip not only spectacular but also memorable.

It would be nice to come here on Christmas and New Year. 30 km from Mumbai Alibaug is well connected by all means of transport such as rail, air and road. The nearest airport is the international airport of Mumbai and the railway station of Penn. State transport and private buses are a good option for getting here from major cities within and outside the state of Maharashtra. The ferry is also a good option in which the journey to the Arabian Sea to travel the distance from Mumbai to Alibaug will be a memorable experience.

This weekend spot in Alibaug is an attractive place to meet who try to fulfill every wish of the tourists. This small town is making slow but continuous progress with ancient beaches, historical forts and local temples. Called Goa of Maharashtra, this place is a favorite place for boys and girls like you because of its elemental beaches. Pack your things without spending any time and come for a weekend, Alibaug. Believe it, this small city full of beaches will settle in your heart forever.
