Early Life and Education:

Durgabai Deshmukh was born in a Telugu Brahmin family in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. She showed exceptional intelligence and determination from a young age. She completed her education in law and economics from the University of Madras.

Durgabai Deshamukh's Freedom Struggle and Social Work:

Durgabai was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi's ideals and actively participated in the Indian freedom struggle. She played a significant role in the Quit India Movement of 1942 and was imprisoned for her involvement in the movement. 

After independence, she continued her work for social reform and welfare. She focused on various issues such as education, women's empowerment, and upliftment of the downtrodden. She founded the Andhra Mahila Sabha in 1940, an organization dedicated to the welfare of women and children, which continues its work today.

Political Career:

Durgabai Deshmukh was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India, which framed the Indian Constitution. She was also elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly and served as the Minister of Social Welfare in the Madras state government.

Durgabai Deshmukh was instrumental in the establishment of educational institutions. She founded the Andhra Education Society in 1948, which later established the Andhra Balananda Sangham School and College. She also contributed to the establishment of the Osmania University in Hyderabad.
