Bina Das's Early Life:

Bina Das was born into a Bengali family deeply involved in the nationalist movement. Her father, Beni Madhab Das, was a doctor and a prominent political figure. Political Activism:

Bina Das Attempted Assassination of Stanley Jackson:

One of the most significant events associated with Bina Das is her attempt to assassinate the Bengal Governor Stanley Jackson on February 6, 1932, during the convocation ceremony at the University of Calcutta. She shot at Jackson with a revolver but missed. Bina Das was immediately apprehended and arrested.


During her trial, Bina Das boldly declared that she aimed at the governor as a symbolic act to protest against British rule and to demand the release of political prisoners. She was sentenced to nine years of rigorous imprisonment.

Bina Das spent a considerable period in prison, enduring hardships as a political prisoner. Her activism and the attempted assassination made her a symbol of resistance against British rule.
