Shri B. Satya Narayan Reddy was born on August 21, 1927 in Andhra Pradesh, in a farming family in Shadnagar Anamam village of Mahbubnagar district. Initial education took place in Edulabad village of Rangareddy district and thereafter Kayasth Pathala, Nagpally School and Keshav Memorial School, Hyderabad. After securing high school education in Vivekvardhani High School, Hyderabad and at College Education Nizam College, Hyderabad, he obtained a degree in law from the famous Osmania University, Hyderabad.

Mr. Reddy is a well known freedom fighter who, after being influenced by Gandhiji's ideas, jumped into the "India Quit India" Movement in 1942 in a short period of only fourteen years and was held captive when he was arrested for Gandhiji's arrest. The students were leading a procession against

Shri Reddy played an active role in the socialist movement. He participated in the "Hyderabad People's Movement" in 1947 as a student leader under the leadership of Shri Swami Ramanand Tirth, then the then Chairman of the Hyderabad State Congress Committee. He got inspiration from great great figures like Gandhiji, Acharya Narendra Dev, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Jai Prakash Narayan, and also took active part in "Socialist Movement" under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia.
