Pinarayi Vijayan was born on March 21, 1944 in a poor family in Piniray in Kannur district. His parents were very poor and this poverty was also won by Vijayan. Pinarayi Vijayan entered politics through the activities of the student union and eventually joined the Communist Party in 1964. He was the President of Kerala and Union of Kerala KSF (Student) and also served as President of Kerala State Federation KSYF (Youth).
