5th day of Navratri
Navratri, a major Hindu festival dedicated to the goddess Durga, spans nine nights and ten days. The festival usually falls in the month of September or October, based on the Hindu lunar calendar. Each day of Navratri is associated with the worship of different forms of the goddess. The fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Skandamata, the mother of Lord Kartikeya (Skanda), who is also known as Skanda Mata or Parvati.
On the fifth day, devotees worship Goddess Skandamata, seeking her blessings for strength, courage, and protection. They offer prayers, perform rituals, and make offerings to the goddess, often presenting her with bananas.
Navratri celebrations vary across regions and communities, but the underlying theme is the victory of good over evil. The festival culminates on the tenth day, known as Dussehra or Vijayadashami, which symbolizes the triumph of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, emphasizing the victory of righteousness over evil forces.
