Gyani Zail Singh (5 May 1916 – 25 December 1994) was an Indian politician who served as the seventh President of India, from 1982 to 1987. He was born in a Sikh family in Sandhwan, Punjab, which is now in Pakistan.


Early Life - Death and Legacy of Bhagwati Charan Vohra

Bhagwati Charan Vohra (1904–1930) was an Indian freedom fighter, revolutionary, and a prominent member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). He played a significant role in the Indian independence movement and made the ultimate sacrifice for his country at a young age.

Bhagwati Charan Vohra was born on 11 November 1904 in Faridkot, Punjab, British India. He came from a family of freedom fighters and was influenced by the prevailing nationalist sentiment in India during that time.

Vohra became actively involved in revolutionary activities against British colonial rule during his college years. He was associated with the Naujawan Bharat Sabha and later became a member of the HSRA, a revolutionary organization led by prominent figures like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Rajguru.

In the Central Legislative Assembly bombing case in 1929, Bhagwati Charan Vohra and Batukeshwar Dutt accompanied Bhagat Singh and Rajguru to protest against repressive laws. They threw non-lethal smoke bombs in the assembly to protest against draconian laws. The incident was a powerful demonstration of their defiance against British rule.

Death and Legacy of Bhagwati Charan Vohra:

Tragically, Bhagwati Charan Vohra lost his life at a young age. On 28 September 1930, while making bombs in a hideout in Delhi, an accidental explosion occurred, resulting in his death and injuries to his colleagues. He was only 25 years old at the time of his demise.


Bhagwati Charan Vohra's sacrifice and his dedication to the cause of India's independence are remembered with deep respect. He, along with his fellow revolutionaries, played a significant role in inspiring the masses and challenging the British colonial authorities.
