Ministry of AYUSH launched 'Namaste Yoga' mobile app

During the Curtain Razor event for the 7th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 11, 2021, a mobile application named “Namaste Yoga” was launched. This app is dedicated to Yoga.

The program was organized by the Ministry of AYUSH in association with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).
On this occasion, the Minister of AYUSH, Shri Kiren Rijiju highlighted about a 10-day series on Doordarshan on International Yoga Day 2021 and the central message of this series “Be with Yoga Be at Home”.
The Namaste Yoga App is designed as an information platform for the masses. It was launched with the aim of raising awareness about Yoga and making it accessible to the larger community.
International Day of Yoga
International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June. In the year 2021, International Yoga Day will be celebrated under the theme- “Yoga at home and Yoga with Family”.

Background of Namaste Yoga mobile app

India had proposed the idea of ​​International Yoga Day during the inauguration of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The United Nations passed the resolution in December 2014 and declared 21 June as the International Day of Yoga. The first Yoga Day was celebrated in 2015 at Rajpath, New Delhi. It set a Guinness World Record for having the world's largest yoga session with 35,985 people.
