Hemant Soren is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, a state in eastern India. He was born on August 10, 1975, in Nemra village in Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, India. Hemant Soren belongs to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party, a regional party in Jharkhand.
Early Life and Education:
Hemant Soren is the son of Shibu Soren, a prominent political leader and the founding president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He completed his schooling from Patna High School in Bihar and later pursued a degree in commerce from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi.
Hemant Soren's Political Career:
Hemant Soren entered politics at a young age, following in his father's footsteps. He became actively involved in the JMM, a party that advocates for the rights of the tribal population in Jharkhand. He held various positions within the party and gained experience in grassroots politics.
In 2009, Hemant Soren was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Dumka constituency in Jharkhand. Hemant Soren became the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the first time in July 2013. His government was short-lived, but he returned to power after the JMM-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance won the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections in December 2019. He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the second time on December 29, 2019.
