Sher Shah's early life

Sher Shah's early life was no less thrilling than Babur and Akbar. Sher Shah's name was Farid Khan as a child. His Sher Shah's father's name was Hasan Khan and grandfather's name was Ibrahim Khan. Ibrahim Khan used to trade horses. But luck struck Ibrahim Khan could not succeed in business. At that time India was considered a source of shelter for various individuals. So he came to India from Afghanistan in search of a job. Later, Ibrahim's son Hasan Khan became a courtier of Sultan Bahlol Lodi and was also given a jagir. Farid Khan alias Sher Shah was born in 1486 AD to the first Afghan wife of Hasan Khan. Hassan Khan was more kind to his new wives, so due to the father's indifference and the step mother's wickedness, Farid's childhood began to get disturbed.

Fed up, Sher Shah left home at the age of 39 and went to Jaunpur. Coming to Jaunpur proved to be a boon for Farid. Jaunpur was the center of learning. Farid diligently learned Arabic and Persian languages. Later, his relations with the father became good again. His father gave him the responsibility of the rule of Sahasram and Khwaspur parganas. In a few days, Sher Shah streamlined the rule of Parganas. His father was very pleased with him. But all this became unbearable for Farid's mother. Farid's father expelled his son from Sahasram after coming to his wife's words.

He went to Agra after getting angry with his father. Ibrahim Lodi was the Sultan of Delhi at that time. Lodi did not pay any attention to Farid's complaint as Lodi was more kind to his father. After the death of Hasan Khan, Ibrahim Lodi declared Farid to be the successor of Hassan and thus once again Farid reached Sahasram by becoming an officer of the ancestral Jagirdari.

Farid Khan tried to keep his step brothers as satisfied as possible. But jealous they started conspiring against Farid. Fed up with the behavior of half-brothers, Farid accepted the job of Bihar ruler Bahar Khan. Impressed by his ability, Bahar Khan made Farid his supporter and mentor. It is said that once, Farid dumped a lion while playing hunting. Bahar Khan gave him the title of "Sher Khan" in view of Farid's valor and courage.
