Almora - Where Nature Also Owns

Almora is a popular hill station in the Kumaon region, situated on a 5 km long horseback hill between Suyal and Kosi river. Surrounded by lush green forests, the city is situated at an altitude of 1651 meters above sea level. The Chand dynasty and the Katyuri dynasty ruled here in the 15th and 16th centuries. From the hills of Almora, tourists can see the panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. This place has many such features, which attract tourists from all over the world.

Kasar Devi Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Chittai Temple and Katarmal Sun Temple are some of the famous religious centers here. Nanda Devi Temple, built in the architectural style of Kumaon, is an ancient pilgrimage site, dedicated to Isht Devi of Chand dynasty. It attracts huge crowds of devotees every year. The Kasar Devi temple is also very famous, which is 5 km from Almora. It is believed that Swami Vivekananda did penance in this temple built in the second century. 

Tourists can enjoy the beautiful view of sunset and sunrise from the Bright End Corner here. Simtola and Martola are an ideal place to have a picnic. Tourists are also attracted to the deer park located 3 km from Almora city. The park is home to reindeer, leopard and black bears of the Himalayas. Gobind Ballabh Pant Museum and Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary are also popular among other tourist places. Mountain biking and trekking among tourists also remain at the center of discussion here. Almora is easily accessible by air, rail and road. The nearest airport is Pantnagar, while the nearest railway station is Kathgodam. It is considered best to visit Almora in summer, because during this time the weather here is very happy.
