Clean India Movement

Inaugurating the Swachh Bharat Mission at New Delhi, Rajpath, Shri Narendra Modi said that "Only through a Swachh Bharat can the country pay its best tribute on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019." Swachh Bharat on October 2, 2014 The mission was launched as a mass national movement across the country. A target of realizing the vision of "Swachh Bharat" by 2 October 2019 has been set under this campaign.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most important cleanliness campaign undertaken by the Government of India. Shri Narendra Modi led a pledge ceremony for cleanliness at India Gate. In which about 50 lakh government employees from all over the country participated. He also flagged off a padayatra at Rajpath on the occasion and not only walked two steps in a symbolic fashion but surprised the people by walking far enough with the participants.

Leading the mass campaign of cleanliness, the Prime Minister inspired the public to realize Mahatma Gandhi's dream of building an India with a clean and healthy environment. Shri Narendra Modi himself started the cleanliness drive at Mandir Marg Police Station. Taking up the broom to clear the dust and soil, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has become a mass movement for the entire nation and said that people should neither spread dirt on their own nor let anyone else spread it. He also chanted "Don't mess, nor will you do it." Shri Narendra Modi also invited nine people to join the cleanliness drive and requested each of them to motivate the other nine people to join this initiative.

Sanitation campaign has taken the form of a national movement by calling upon people to join this campaign. The message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has aroused a sense of responsibility within the people. Now that the citizens are actively involved in the work of cleanliness across the country, the dream of 'Swachh Bharat' seen by Mahatma Gandhi is now coming true.

The Prime Minister has spread the message of Swachh Bharat to the whole of India and all over the world by using his words and works. He also launched a cleanliness drive in Varanasi. He drove a shovel at Assi Ghat near the Ganges River under the Clean India Mission. A large number of people joined them and supported them in the cleanliness drive. Realizing the importance of cleanliness, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also raised the matter of solving health problems simultaneously. About half of these Indian families are suffering due to lack of proper toilets at home.

Different sections of the society have come forward and participated in this mass campaign of cleanliness and have contributed. From government employees to jawans, Bollywood actors to sportspersons, industrialists to spiritual leaders, everyone has expressed their commitment to this great cause. Millions of people across the country have been involved in these cleanliness activities run by government departments, including NGOs and local community centers in this work, through plays and music for cleanliness and deep health To spread the message to the people, cleanliness campaigns are being conducted on a large scale across the country.

The Prime Minister has appreciated the efforts made by the public and various departments and institutions to participate in the Swachh Bharat Mission and contribute to the creation of a Swachh Bharat. Shri Narendra Modi has always praised the public participation in social media with a free speech. At the same time, the '#MyCleanIndia' campaign has been started as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to highlight the contribution of citizens in this cleanliness drive.

Swachh Bharat has taken the form of a 'Jan Andolan' as it has got immense support from the people. A large number of citizens have also come forward and pledged to create a clean India. After the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, it has become the nature of the public to raise brooms for cleaning the streets, cleaning garbage, focusing on cleanliness and creating a healthy environment around them. The public is helping to spread the message of 'Cleanliness is near Godliness' and is getting involved in this work.
