Early Life and Education:

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born into a Brahmin family. He completed his schooling in Gwalior and later graduated with distinction in Hindi, English, and Sanskrit from Victoria College (now Laxmi Bai College) in Gwalior. He further pursued a post-graduate degree in Political Science from DAV College in Kanpur.

Vajpayee's Entry into Politics:

Vajpayee's political journey began during his college years when he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu nationalist organization. He was an active participant in the Quit India Movement against British rule in 1942. In 1951, he became a founding member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which later evolved into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Parliamentary Career:

Vajpayee was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament, for the first time in 1957. He was a member of Parliament for multiple terms, representing various constituencies. He also served in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Prime Ministership:

Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as the Prime Minister of India three times: first for 13 days in 1996, then for 13 months from 1998 to 1999, and finally for a full term from 1999 to 2004. During his tenure, India conducted nuclear tests in Pokhran in 1998, which established India as a nuclear weapons state. His government also focused on economic reforms, infrastructure development, and improving India's international relations.
