Shiv Nadar was born on July 14, 1945, in Moolaipozhi village in Tamil Nadu, India. His family later moved to South India, where he grew up. Nadar displayed an early aptitude for mathematics and science.

Education:

Shiv Nadar earned a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. After completing his education, he started his career at a Delhi-based engineering firm.

Shiv Nadar's Foundation of HCL:

In 1976, Shiv Nadar founded Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL) in a garage in Delhi with a vision to create a technology company that could compete globally. HCL initially focused on making calculators but soon expanded its operations to other technology services.

Under Nadar's leadership, HCL grew into a major player in the global IT services industry. The company diversified into software development, hardware, research and development, and other IT-enabled services. HCL became known for its innovative approach to business and technology solutions.

Philanthropy:

Apart from his success in the business world, Shiv Nadar is also recognized for his philanthropic activities. In 1994, he established the Shiv Nadar Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on education and art.
