Laxmibai Kelkar was India's eminent social reformer. He established an organization named 'Nation Sevika Samiti'. His original name was Kamal, but people used to call him 'aunty ji' with respect. In the days of the movement against the partition of Bengal, on July 6, 1905, a girl named Kamal was born in Nagpur. Who knew then that in the future, this girl will build a great organization of women's awakening.

Laxmibai Kelkar was born in Nagpur. At the age of 14, he was married to Purvottam Rao Kelkar, a widowed lawyer of Wardha. They had six sons.

By hindering a conservative society he kept Harijan servants in his house. With the inspiration of Gandhi ji, he started a spinning wheel in the house. Once Ganandhi appealed to donate in a meeting, Laxmibai Kelkar donated his gold chains.

Her husband died in 1932. Now the responsibility of the child widow with her children also came upon them. Laxmibai Kelkar hired two rooms in the house. This has solved the economic problem. These days his sons started going to the Sangh's branch. With the change in his thoughts and behavior, the attraction of Lakshmi Bai in the mind of the RSS and he met the founder of the organization, Dr. Hedgewar. In 1936, he started a new organization called 'Nation Sevika Samiti' for women. In the coming ten years continuous migration, the work of the committee has expanded in many provinces.

Dr. Hedgewar told them that women do not come in the union, but they inspire them to form a primate organization. Then in 1936, he started a new organization named 'Rashtra Sevika Samiti' for women, which was later declared as the first disciple of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. While other women organizations awaken the women about their rights, their reputation, the Nation Sevika Committee says that as a component of the nation, what is the duty of a mother? The Committee has given them a glimpse of the unmatched talent of building a hidden nation. As well as keeping in mind the family arrangement according to its tradition, he awakens towards the role of nation building. The aim of the committee is to make the woman's paramount development but she should also know that my development, this quality of mine, how my power can work in repetition.

Considering all these things, Vandnya Auntji started the work of the National Service Committee on the method of RSS. With the expansion of the committee, Laxmibai Kelkar made the place of reverence in the heart of the women. All started calling him 'Vandniyaa Ausaji'. In the coming ten years continuous migration, the work of the committee has expanded in many provinces.

The first national conference of the committee was held in 1945. One day before the independence and division of the country, they were in Karachi, Sindh. They asked the servicemen to fight every situation and maintain their purity. They also arranged for Hindu families to reach safe India.

Courageous attitude of Laxmibai Kelkar 

August 1947 was a tax time. Dear Motherland was going to be divided.
